About
Sheila Dee’s Sew Vintage is a division of Sheila Dee’s Treasures which has been selling vintage sewing patterns, sewing books and sewing collectibles on-line for over 10 years. I love finding vintage sewing items and seeing them go to homes where they will be loved. When I first began selling online I found a box of doll patterns at a sale. They were like a time capsule of the late 1950s to the mid-1970s. There were patterns starting with the baby dolls and the "teenage" dolls on to Chatty Cathy and Barbie from prom queen to hippie. I had so much fun selling those patterns that I've been buying patterns ever since that day.My next treasure find was a large collection of patterns from the 1930s and 1940s. Before selling them, I took them with me on a visit to my Mother, Dad and Grandmother. Both of the ladies had a great time looking at the patterns and remembering the dresses they had made during that time. Then Dad started looking and found one that looked "just like a dress Mother wore when they were dating." The patterns sparked many family stories.
Growing up in a small southern town, Mother made most of the clothes for myself, my sister and herself. As a pre-teen, I thought it would be so wonderful to just go to the store and buy new clothes until I realized how poorly they fit me. Bless Mother for making clothes that fit a growing girl that didn't fit the "standard" sizes. I also thank her for making sure I knew how to sew.
I also understand the frustration of wanting a certain pattern that you can't find because it has been discontinued. You'll find a wide selection of more current patterns that are now out of print.
As I've searched for sewing patterns, I've also found patterns for all types of needlecrafts. You'll find patterns and booklets for crochet, knitting, embroidery, counted cross-stitch, and even macrame.
All types of patterns, booklets, and craft magazines in the shop can be added to the shopping cart for combined shipping. Check the Terms page for the current shipping prices you'll see applied to your items.
During the search for sewing patterns I've also found some wonderful books dealing with sewing and crafts. You'll find these offered for sale in my bookstore, Sheila Dee's Books.
